How is an installation of solar panels on patio structures?

Panels

These are the first cog in the wheel. The sunbeams impact on the panels and create an electric current, which we will take to your home.

Inverter

It has two main tasks. The first is to act as the orchestra conductor, as it coordinates and gathers the work of all panels. The second is to adapt that energy to your home’s reality, transforming the continuing electricity from the panels into alternating electricity of 220V (used by our sockets, household appliances, etc.).

Batteries

They are not mandatory, but you can store in them all the energy that you haven’t used during the day —when you generate the electricity thanks to the sunlight— and use it at night. This way, you will use even less external electricity.

Digital meter

You may remember that not so long ago the meter of our homes was changed for a digital one. Well, one of its features is that it is bidirectional: it measures the electricity that goes in, and also the one that goes out. Thanks to that, your distributor will pay for the solar energy that you pour into the network because you didn’t use it. It is essential if you don’t have batteries.

Why install solar panels on a patio structure?

When you don’t have enough space on your roof, or when for example this is a terrace that you use, solar canopies offer a very good solution to install panels without losing space.

What are the advantages of installing a solar canopy?

Apart from the before mentioned advantages of space, solar canopies allow you to gain new space in the garden: barbecue, parking. Or if you set it up on the terrace, it allows you to gain a shaded area.

How is solar canopy installed?

Assembly is very easy, since the solar canopies have a visible structure, which makes it easy to install the aluminum rails on the porticos.

How is the maintenance of a solar canopy done?

Maintenance is simple, because not only is access to the patio structure always easy, but you can also see the panels from below and check the status of the connections.

Is there a specific local, provincial or national regulation?

How much am I going to save by installing a solar canopy?

Depending on the number of panels installed, around €1,200 per year.

What size of panels are installed on the solar canopy?

The same panels are used as on the roofs: 1 meter wide, and between 1 m and 2 m high.
